I had to drill LOTS of holes for the SMD LEDs that were installed behind the main front panel. In the whole project I used hundreds of LEDs, all of them I received from my another supporter – Phenoptix.

The second part of front panel was to design a 'form from hexagonal shapes. Each of them was going to be lit up by two LEDs, having two layers – one acrylic and one aluminium. Acrylic hex shapes needed holes to be drilled for LEDs, and aluminium pieces to be painted black. I had to drill 8mm holes in each of acrylic shapes in order to put LEDs in them.

After having all aluminium pieces done, everything was flat packed and sent to be powder coated. I chose satin black for most of the pieces and dark graphite for the main panels back sheets, so the whole design of the panels would be easily seen.

After a couple of days, a package arrived. All the aluminium pieces came back, coated beautifully.
